Make Room

‘Make room’ is the phrase God has given me for 2020. When asking God exactly what that means, he revealed to me that there are rooms in my heart that I haven’t allowed him access to. There are ideals in my heart that I hold so tightly at the chest and I just won’t give it to him. There are decisions I make without seeking his guidance. There are things I take part in that he hasn’t called me to. There are parts of my marriage I try to control instead of releasing to him.

While not perfect, this year, I’m learning to listen. I’m learning to be obedient and cut distractions in my life. The more room I make for God the more he speaks, the more he cleans up those messy rooms in my heart, and the more clarity I gain. I’m thankful for God giving me such a powerful statement to cling to this year. It is far from easy because it truly is an act of surrender. It is saying; “here God, take my body, clean it up, make me your vessel. I am surrendered to you”.

This should be every believers goal. It’s time to stop controlling our lives, creating our own narratives, and living how we want to live. I encourage anyone reading this to take a deeper look at their life and surrender to God the things you hold so tightly to your heart. Family in Christ, let us all make room for him this year and always.
